Visa Information for Students in Georgia

Students are required to apply for Long Term Visa (Immigration Visa, type D) for study purposes. For this, the student must be enrolled at the university and hold an official enrollment letter. For details please see section: Application Procedures

Step 1. Before arriving in Georgia citizens/students for study purpose are required to obtain long-term visa from the consulate of Georgia in their country

Step 2. Citizens legally staying in Georgia shall apply to the LEPL Public Service Hall for residence Permit issued with the right of temporary residence in Georgia.
Temporary Residence Permit is issued for at least 6 months for the first time and its validity term shall not exceed 1 year. Its validity term might be prolonged for other 5 years, provided that the total validity term of Temporary Residence Permit should not exceed 6 years.
A foreigner must apply for Residence Permit to the agency 40 calendar days prior to the expiration of the term for his/her legal stay on the territory of Georgia.
